The last time Elis had seen the mild-mannered woman sitting opposite
him, she’d been sneaking out of his hotel room at about 5 in the morning. Moments before that she’d shuddered to an
almighty orgasm that probably woke half the hotel and rendered the subsequent
sneaking virtually pointless. Moments before that she’d been throwing Elis
around the bed like a rag doll; getting him into the perfect position. She was
like a woman possessed; a wild look in her eyes, determination on her face. Looking
at her now sitting pretty in this little Cardiff indie café, it was hard to
believe it was the same woman.
It had been the climax to the Christmas away day, which the
bosses had stressed was a serious meeting for the management team, but soon
descended into a mass booze-up. Carol had been next to Elis all day. She was
new to the company and told him she thought he had a friendly face. Elis was
not complaining at all. Everyone knew Elis and Elis knew everyone. He was the
perfect person to take care of a newbie; especially one as cute as Carol.
She looked like Lisa Loeb. Kooky glasses, a come and get me smile and a ridiculously
straight fringe on a shoulder length bob. She was Elis’s perfect woman and to
top it off there was no ring on her finger. She was manna from heaven.
They’d kissed first just outside the toilets; a quick wet
kiss that ended just before the boss walked around the corner. The second kiss
was while they were out having a quick smoke. It was cold in the car park,
Carol’s nipples showing clearly beneath her blouse. This time their kiss was
interrupted by the head of accounts heading out towards his car.
“Don’t do anything you’ll regret on Monday,” he’d said,
smiling at the two lovebirds.
Finally, they’d got themselves back to Elis’s room where
they’d licked, bitten, kissed and scratched their way through the rest of the
night, until Carol had crawled away promising to be in touch, and Elis had
drifted off into a satisfied snooze.
That had been three weeks ago. Since then there had been a
few flirty emails in work but the Christmas Holidays, the January rush and the
fact that she was in head office in Bristol, meant there’d been no chance of a
repeat performance.
Elis had just squeezed himself into the corner table of the
café. The Dad, the two toddlers and granny and gramps on the next table were
nearly spreading over on to his table but there was just enough space for him.
He would normally avoid families like the plague but this was the only free
table in the whole place, so he had no choice.
It was a cute family. The dad was one of those devilishly handsome men
who looked like he was the rugby captain at school and opened the batting at cricket.
The toddlers were fair-haired little angels. Elis smiled at them and then got
his book out and settled down to a few chapters of Extraordinary Rendition. A waft of familiar perfume made him aware
of the mother coming back from the toilet, but he was so engrossed in his book
he didn’t look up. But then he heard a voice he instantly recognised.
At least Elis has a good book to read :-)
