Poetry Friday 34

Poetry Friday 34.
Poetry 34 comes to you from Prague today. Hope you enjoy these two poems.

Behind the red curtains
Creatures lay
silently
on sheets dampened
by passion.
The breeze
cooling the heat
and fueling the self-loathing.
A lighter clicks,
and smoke drifts
like their minds
wondering on the light wind.*
She rolls over, sighs.
He pulls on his pants.
No words are spoken.
(this was originally wandering, but I wonder if wondering is better)

Footsteps in virgin snow
I trudge home,
Fingertips freezing,
teeth chattering.
my footsteps scar
virgin snow.
But soon
my tracks will be covered,
my journey forgotten.
The only evidence will be
the scars on your
skin.

Hope you enjoyed 34, tune in next week for 35 possibly.

  1. If they had some thoughts they were wondering:-)

  2. Your first thought was much better. 'Minds wander' is much more interesting and less cliched than 'minds wonder'. The word ' wander' has got meanins that fit this context perfectly:
    1. To move about without a definite destination or purpose.
    2. To go by an indirect route or at no set pace; amble: We wandered toward town.
    3. To proceed in an irregular course; meander: The path wanders through the park.
    4. To behave in a manner that does not conform to morality or norms: wander from the path of righteousness.

But of course you are the author and you know best and you are always right
