The Game of Love 2

This is the sister story of Game of Love 1 find that here

Jane lay in bed smiling to herself, she could still feel Ivor’s last kiss on her lips and the pillow next to her still had his warmth and his smell. She didn’t usually pick men up in bars and take them home but she’d had a feeling about Ivor, he’d seemed somehow different and he had proved to be. He’d been a kind and considerate lover eager to explore her skin, her contours and her smells, he seemed surprised at her reactions and as excited as a kid in a sweet shop. She picked up her phone and sent him a message.

Thanks ;-)

As soon as the message had gone she regretted her actions. Why didn’t text messaging have a retrieve message function? What had she done? He’d only left the house 5 minutes ago, that broke all rules of engagement, oh no what would he think of her? Would he think she was desperate? Too keen?  All she wanted want to let him know she’d enjoyed herself, but god she had acted too impetuously.  She hated this dating game, she didn’t really know the rules or how to play or anything. She didn’t want to have to bother with all that malarkey, Ivor was great, she just wanted to see him again but she was being sucked into the mire, into the vortex of the stupid game where the rules had been written by Marie Claire and FHM, not by normal people with normal feelings. She hoped he was a normal person with normal feelings but if he’d been reading Cosmo in dentist waiting rooms or watching Ally McBeal he’d know she’d just faux pas ed big style.  She looked at her phone desperate for a reply. Just something to tell her that she had not blown her chances. C’mon Ivor you were a considerate lover don’t be a typical man now you’ve got what you came for.

Her phone remained stubbornly silent. She put it down and went to get a shower, washing away the memories of the previous night but also the embarrassment of such a schoolgirl error. When she got back to her bedroom she checked her phone expecting nothing but…there was a message.

Ivor
J it was great!

Jane smiled at the phone as if she were smiling at Ivor, she’d found herself a diamond.

    1. There are many forms of fear and many forms of love. You're not talking about the same thing as the author. Your love gives and asks for nothing (the ideal) but passionate, sexual love described in the story is based on the principles of reciprocity and power.

    2. Why doesn’t text messaging have a retrieve message function? That's a question I ask every day :-) Anyway, I suppose we're all looking for a Mel Gibson (What Women Want).

    3. yeah, you are right - the quotation from the Bible is about the ideal love and yes, I'm a dreamer:) and if you don't look through the religious prism, there is nothing about giving and receiving here. It is about passion and love - two people who truly love each other are not afraid of showing their feelings. Is the real love described in the story? No. So called passion and desire - yes:) that's a good excuse to shag an attractive and nice person:) You get drunk, go with someone to bed and you can call it an overwhelming passion....:)

  2. And then, Jane replied him: "You're always welcome" :-)
So Ivor sent to her a song "Give me one reason" by Tracy Chapman

I like the ending, especially when I'm listening to your voice, you give the story the right emotions.
