As soon as Helen saw the look on Caroline’s face, she knew she’d taken her advice. The worry lines were gone, the stress eased and there was a sparkle in her eyes that Helen hadn’t seen for ages. Bryn had obviously worked his magic, played his tunes and delivered the satisfaction Helen had personally guaranteed.
‘You did it didn't you?’ she
said before she’d even sat down.
‘Did what?’ Caroline asked trying to play the innocent but the long lost smile that spread across her face as she said it somewhat gave her away.
‘C’mon girl you can fool me, look at you, when was the last time you smiled like that?’
‘I have no idea what you are talking about.’
‘So tell me, did he play you like a piano, he’s good isn’t he.’ Helen said, ignoring her friend's protestations of innocence.
She was eager to know all about Bryn performance - perhaps a bit too eager.
‘Who are you talking about?’ Caroline said.
‘Bryn.’
‘I didn't see Bryn.’
‘You're a liar. Stop playing games, Car.’
‘I'm not lying, I didn't see Bryn, but...’ Caroline let that but hang in the air for a moment enjoying watching her friend bouncing like a child on Christmas Eve.
‘I thought about what you said and you were right, I did need something for myself, some kind of escape, something to help me shut out the world.’
‘So what did you do, if you didn’t see Bryn?’ Helen hoped her friend wasn't going to say a lame shopping trip or a weekend in London or something boring run of the mill like that.
‘Well I thought about Bryn! I considered it! I gave it a lot of thought I did, but then I thought same old same old! How is that going to help me relieve this stress? I need something different.'
‘So?’

‘So?’
It was Caroline's turn to pass
a business card across the table.
Helen looked at it and her jaw almost hit the floor.

‘Women for women exclusive
female escort agency.’
‘You didn't?’ was all Helen could say. She was sometimes slow on the uptake. Her mouth was open and it looked like her eyes would pop out any second.

Caroline nodded slowly, deliberately, wickedly.
‘Satisfaction guaranteed my
friend, satisfaction guaranteed.’
Bingo! Quite unexpected but I like it:
ReplyDelete1) Bryn wasn't that perfect after all
2) Sleepeing with a woman is not cheating on the husband
3) Some husbands may actually like it
4) As a result she will have a clear consience or even, if number 3 is true, add come new value to the sex in her marriage
5) Being fed up with the species called man is perfectly understandable
