Jake thought of himself as something of a ladies' man. A modern day
Leslie Phillips, but his female colleagues had different ideas; they laughed at
him behind his back and called him the octopus, because he was slimy, his hands
were everywhere and he smelt slightly of fish. He was a bit of a snake. But
what they didn't tell each other was that all of them had slept with him at one
time or another. And he didn't tell anyone, because a gentleman never tells.
The mountains glimmered in the distance, their
snowy peaks capturing the sun and casting beams of brightness across the
valley. Dave finished chopping the octopus and put it in the pot with the
mushrooms and beans. He lit the candles and adjusted the cutlery waiting for
Dena to arrive. When she did he almost fainted at her beauty. He pulled out a
chair and sat her down and served the soup. One mouthful later she was
gone.
20 minutes later Dave sat behind Dena holding her hair back from her
face. In between retches she sobbed, ‘sorry it's my fault, I should have told
you - I'm allergic to seafood.’
