The ‘Facebook finger hover’, hands up who’s done it, come on now, be honest, don't pretend you don't know what it is. You know you've done it and probably more than once. Hovered over the ‘add friend’ button of an ex, lingered long enough but not quite had the courage to go through with it, or maybe common sense talked you round, pulled your finger back just in time.
I bet
it was the schoolroom sweetheart wasn’t it? Or the one you shared your first
time with? The one you promised to love forever, who promised that the love
would never die. But it did die didn’t it? Of course it did and how much water
has passed under the bridge since?
You
think about them now and then, when you hear ‘your tune’, (what was it? Mr Big ‘I’m
the one who wants to be with you?’ ‘Or George Michael, Different Corner’?) And
then, when you’re drunk or tired, or a bit lonely those thoughts turns to searches
and the finger starts to hover.
Why do you do it? Do you think turning back the clock to happier times will solve the problems? Do you really think they were happier times? Won't it create more problems than it solves?
Why do you do it? Do you think turning back the clock to happier times will solve the problems? Do you really think they were happier times? Won't it create more problems than it solves?
So
what if you did it? What if the finger came down and the request was sent? How
bad could it be? What’s the worst that can happen?
They
could ignore it, how would that make you feel? Or they could accept it, and
then what?
Would
that open a can of worms that is best left unopened? Do you really want to go
back in time? It wouldn’t be the same. It couldn’t be the same. Could it?
No cubes today but a reminder of those two wonderful songs.
I admit! I did it:) but more out of sheer curiosity - honestly I don't think it is a good idea to waste your time thinking about your past lovers/boyfriends/girfriends.... as the philospoher said: "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man."
ReplyDeletethanks to facebook, one can find his Maria and see what happens... if you have no idea for an archive story today that can be one
